Following the transition from PSSA competitions to Gala Days, our back at school sport program has hgad some changes.
In the past, students who were not selected in a PSSA team participated in back-at-school sports activities. This arrangement will remain in place with a small change. Students not selected in Gala Days will now part part in a Mini Gala Day at school. The Mini Gala Days will be held on the same dates as our competitive Gala Days.
During the Mini Gala Days, students will participate in a range of activities, including
- Mini Gala Day competition
- STEM projects in class
- Positive behaviour lessons
On Fridays when we don’t have a Gala Day, students who have been selected in a representative team will participate in an hour of training with their team. Students who have not been selected will participate in an hour of sport with their class.
The goal of the Mini Gala Day is to encourage students to try new sports and activities, while also supporting them in achieving the recommended hours of sport, outlined in the curriculum by Department of Education.
