WHAT DOES CASULA P.S. HAVE TO OFFER MY CHILD?
At Casula Public School our purpose is to educate our students by striving for excellence. All learning at our school is underpinned by 4C practices - collaboration, communication, critical reflection and creativity. Our students become socially responsible citizens and self-regulated learners who demonstrate empathy, respect and integrity. Student voice is explicitly fostered.
IS THE OPPORTUNITY CLASS RIGHT FOR YOUR CHILD?
A unifying characteristic of children in Opportunity Classes is that they have been identified as having the potential to develop through the OC program.
These students may have many of these traits:
the ability to handle abstract ideas
higher order thinking skills
independent learning skills
creativity and originality
curiosity and energy
a wide variety of interests
long attention spans
outstanding athletic ability
a good vocabulary and the ability to speak well
very good reading skills and habits
the ability to learn the basics easily

the ability to connect and transfer skills and knowledge between subject areas
The Opportunity Class at Casula Public School fosters and develops these traits by providing deep learning opportunities to broaden and strengthen existing student capabilities.
HOW DO WE HELP STUDENTS COPE WITH CHANGING SCHOOLS?
At Casula Public School, students are introduced to a range of personal development activities with the explicit aim of building positive relationships within the class, stage and whole school. This allows everyone to get to know each other and helps to create a friendly, non-threatening environment. Within the opportunity class, students work with like minded peers with similar interests, learning dispositions and abilities.
